Honeywell 1950GSR-2 Setup

  1. Plug in the USB scanner to the PC
    •   Windows will automatically install the driver
  2. Open Device Manager (as an admin) and you will see the scanner under POS devices

  1. Confirm the Vendor ID and Product ID
    1. Double click the “POS HID Barcode scanner” device
    2. Go to the Drivers tab
    3. Change the Property drop down to "Hardware Ids"
    4. You should see an entry like:
      •   HID\VID_0C2E&PID_1001
  2. Configure the scanner for SECTOR and Tyler Law Enforcement Mobile
    •   This is typically a one-time setup step for the scanner itself. If the scanner was already configured and is just being moved to a new PC this step can be skipped. In that case the Product/Vendor IDs will show:
    •   HID\VID_0C2E&PID_1007
  1. Scan the following barcode to update the device configuration (this was taken from the “SECTOR IT Instruction / System Instruction for IT Personnel” document):

  1. Confirm the Vendor ID and Product ID now show:
    •   HID\VID_0C2E&PID_1007
  1. Step 4, if performed, may have reconfigured the device from POS to HID. If it is still showing as POS, update the driver to HID
    1. Double click the “POS HID Barcode scanner” device, go to the Drivers tab, then click Update Driver
    2. Select “Browse my computer for driver software”
    3. Select “Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer”
    4. Select “HID-compliant device” and click Next
    5. Click Close on the update driver window
    6. Click Close on the device properties window
      •   Note that the device is now under the HID devices
